Free Online PDF Editor & Viewer
OpenPdfEdit is a free online PDF editor and PDF reader that works right in
your browser. Open a file and you can read it, mark it up, change its text
and save it again, with no account and nothing to install. The document is
opened, edited and saved on your own device, so it never passes through
our servers, and the editor keeps working offline once it has loaded.
Edit PDF online, the way you would on your desktop
- Read and annotate — highlight, underline, draw and add notes to any page.
- Edit text — fix a typo or change a sentence where it sits on the page.
- Fill in forms — type into form fields, then flatten them so they cannot change.
- Organise pages — reorder pages, merge several PDFs into one, or pull the pages you need out into a new file.
- Redact — black out sensitive text so it is removed from the file, not just covered.
- Sign — draw your signature once, then place it on any page.
- Compare — see what changed between two versions of a document.
- Compress — make a large PDF smaller before you send it.
- Protect — save a copy that opens only with a password.
- OCR — turn a scanned page into text you can select and search, as a Supporter feature.
- Watermark — stamp text across every page, as a Supporter feature.
A free PDF viewer that keeps your files on your device
Most online PDF tools upload your document to a server, process it there
and send a copy back. OpenPdfEdit does the work in the browser instead,
using the same PDF engine that powers Chrome, compiled to WebAssembly.
Contracts, bank statements and medical letters stay on the computer or
phone you opened them on. That also makes it fast: pages render as you
scroll, and there is no waiting for an upload to finish before you can
start.
It runs in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook, and
can be installed as an app so it opens like one. The same editor is also
available as a desktop app for Mac and Windows and as a browser extension.
